Shamanism In North America - A Pastor's Experience

Cory, a youth pastor in Canada, recently drove six hours to see The Enemy God. He was able to bring several of his youth group with him for the screening and has since been using some themes from film in his teaching – actually writing some curriculum to go along with the film.

Cory writes:
“I am forwarding a portion of an e-mail I sent to Christopher Bessette [the film’s Director] on to you to show you some of the impacts The Enemy God is having in North America. I was able to use the f… Continue

New TEG Web Site Is Up

We have been working for a while on a new web site for the film. The goal is to have a site that is more dynamic, has better news feeds and access to everything. Because we have a lot of activity coming up this fall, we made the site live tonight.

It has much of the same information, but it's in a neater package and is easier for us to keep current. You can get RSS feeds and follow us on Twitter from the home page if you aren't already keeping up with those more frequent updates about the film.… Continue

Belize International Film Festival

Just a quick blog to let you know that Matt Castagna, one of the Producers of the film, is in Belize this week and weekend to screen the film at the Belize International Film Festival.

The Enemy God makes use of the talents of hundreds of Belizeans and the beautiful Belizean rainforest. The festival organizers have been eager to host a special screening on Saturday, July 25th as part of the festival. Matt will also make some television and radio appearances to talk about the film.

We ar… Continue

Surround-Sound Mixing

George Lucas supposedly once said that sound is 51% of a film. Good sound is often the thing that is left out of low-budget films — and you can tell!

I’m sitting in a surround-sound mixing room in California today, working with our sound designer on final tweaks for the 5.1 sur… Continue

Hello Tom,

This project looks like an incredible effort to tell an even more incredible story! I'm glad god is using you in this way. I found out about this movie and behind the scenes website from one of my fellow missionaries here in Venezuela. I work with the imb focusing on university students in Valencia and Caracas. TI just completed my first year on the field and I spent 7 months in Ecuador before moving to Venezuela in May. It's amazing to see how God is moving in this country despite political and economic struggles...or perhaps through them! I can't wait to get the DVD!

I heard about the Aviation missionary in the Amazon on Focus On The Family with Dr. James Dobson. I listen to the show every morning. Anyway, your link was on their website following the show.

Thanks Tom, I'll have a look at the Youtube videos. I can embed those just fine. Also, keep us in mind for any news or info you want to send out to our readers. We have quite a large readership, and I would be happy to let them know about the film.

Hi Tom, I haven't seen the film yet but am looking forward to doing so. I am friends with Carrie and Nando and my husband went down to Venezuela with Nando a couple of years ago to work on the orphanage. My hubby made his own film of some of the people and places there so I am excited to see more!!! May God bless you and your work:) Jessie

Thanks, I am here by the invitation of Carrie Vierreal(sp).
I've known her and Nando for years and take their invitation seriously.
I hope to learn more about the film and your work.
I've seen the trailer and as a professional photographer I am impressed with the quality of the film.
God Bless Your Ministry,
Jim

I have seen a preview of the film when shown in P.G , Belize. It looks wonderful and can't wait for the DVD to be sold here in Belize.
I really like movies with indigenous content.

Tom, I finally got to see the film. I liked it over all and thought it was very well done. The downside for me (that is, anyone else who doesn't know yanomamo and culture wouldn't notice), was that it wasn't yanomamo acting. I thought they really DID do well for not being yanomamo, I just missed the carismatic language and culture (body language) of the yanomamo (especially so present with the shamatali yanomamo). That is just me though. I am a purest when it comes to any film, opting rather to see a film in the original language of its setting. I guess I would side with Mel Gibson on that one. Speaking of Mel, was it the same dialect of Mayan that he used in "Apocolipto"? (sp?)
I did REALLY like the 11 min. extra on shamanism, something I think the general public will find extreemely interesting and thought provoking.
Once again, GOOD JOB, and THANKS!!

Hi, Tom. That was a picture of me laying the first block on Joe and Millie's house in Dec. of 1996. That was my first trip. I spent 6 mos. there that time. Almost finished the house. I like to think I was able to teach some of the Indians how to build this way a bit. At a later visit I saw Timoteo start laying brick on his own house. The pic on my profile page is of me with Jody Dawson, Timoteo and a couple of friends working on Jody's house. T

Yea i never thought of Brazil being a lot more different, but then again maybe Brazil is (or was) more open to some of those 'human rights' groups (like Survival International) because of the negative influence gold mining was having on indigenous lands. Does Venezuela have indian protection agencies? I guess Davi also was kind of in the right place at the right time to achieve the power that he now seems to have worldwide.
Hey, the film arrived in the mail yesterday and looking forward to watching it today or soon.
Yes, that is a great idea and quest to get it in portuguese. The yanomamo in the village my parents work with would love to see it. Out of curiosity, who are some of the ones with yanomamo friends on the brazilian side, i probably know them.
I want to get a copy sent to my dad and brother, looking at sending mine when i finish viewing it.
Keep up the good work!
